Wellfleet Oyster & the sea :: Chelsea & David’s Chequessett Wedding – Cape Cod Wedding Photographers

Marvels never seen: letters carved from fiery rock.

Shall these pages contain the flame of his words

Or will they feed the fire? When did fire not conquer straw?

These words are locked now within my heart,

Engraved there letter for letter

Placed there forever.

His poem is like a tapestry woven by the hands of thought,

Framed with beauty,

Worn like a crown.

His poem is like a song of jeweled fruit,

A song, a poem for the reader to taste.

My tongue shall sing it on a glass of wine.

YIN NEDIVAH (“GENEROUS EYE”)

Words don’t come easily for this absolutely beautiful and powerful wedding….   Chelsea’s grandparents and parents have homes just up the hill from the  Chequessett Yacht & Country Club.. Chelsea chose to get ready at her grandparents home who are so very special to her.  She had her best girls, and her mom close by as she easily slipped into a magnificent mermaid dress that seemingly could not have been for anyone else…  The traditional custom-made headpiece adorned a loose chignon twist by the talented folks at  Salon 54…  LOVE! With incredible flowers by family friend and talented gardner and florist Sharyn Lyndsay (who has since opened Potter’s Room… our hearts  are smiling for this).  Chelsea’s sweet father David, who is also the Wellfleet Harbormaster watched the tide, and hand crafted the most incredible Chuppah out of his finds on the beach ( Wellfleet flotsam & jetsam is known to have good bijoux) ….The sweet ceremony was punctuated by so many people local and afar who sat on the rocks, feet in the sand & watched this unfold. I love that Chelsea had both of her parents walk her down the beach to the Chuppah, where her uncle performed the Ceremony and many family members stood up to read the most moving words I’ve heard at a wedding… Chelsea’s Uncle Tim Dickey played guitar, as David just smiled the entire time – a grin echoed by everyone who watched these two…  Even their Beautiful Weimeraner, Jack was smiling! (Really – they do smile – we know, we have two!)  The Boat house at Chequessett is the perfect setting for Chelsea & David to enjoy their cocktail hour where Toast & Jam played & lent me a guitar to take ring photographs on – love them! A sweet cake was displayed with Oyster shells – a gift made by Chelsea’s mom Dale….  The Ocean & Oyster theme made it’s way to every place setting in the tent they had beautifully decorated – it was just light & joyful!  Many toasts began and David’s grandfather performed the blessing over a wedding challah ( or the breaking of the bread)… and then it was time for the amazing catering by Shannon Mahoney of  Mahoney’s Atlantic Bar & Grill Sumptuous Catering  while members of the band Semper Soul played jazz before heading to the reception to take it up a notch! Seafoam dresses, and a sense of traditional Wellfleet beauty, community & love… we are so thankful to have been a part of!

This is an example of what happens when a bride is relaxed, focused and had the timing planned perfectly. All of the family photos were done first, away from the ceremony location, before guests arrived. Chelsea took the time to take bridal shots alone. (with her grandmother peaking a little…) Then came Chelsea & David’s sweet first look together at the same location with their Weimaraner, Jack. We spent about an hour just letting them be together… Posing a bit.. but letting ourselves capture them as they are…. Then they walked to their ceremony together… It was perfect.  They mingled with guests, and stayed close until it was time…  They truly enjoyed every moment of their wedding and were not rushed… and it made it easy for us to be creative and take these images which we just adore.
